Church View Medical Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead practice nurse looking to join our friendly, rural, dispensing practice with a 4000-list size and increasing. 

We are a well-established friendly team and as our GP practice nurse you will be an integral member, providing essential services to our patients. You will work closely and be supported by our Gp’s, healthcare assistance and other practice staff.

We ideally want someone to work 24 hours over 3 days to include extended hours on a Tuesday night. – no weekends or Bank holidays. Excellent work life balance. Training available and funded. Possible partnership opportunity

The practice is situated in the rural Somerset village of Broadway on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The southwest offers excellent local schools & amenities with good transport links to major towns and cities. 

Job responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, compassionate nursing care to our patient population alongside the healthcare assistant team.
  • Undertake practice nursing duties including but not limited to;
  • Cervical screening
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Ear syringing
  • Wound care
  • ECG’s
  • Venepuncture
  • Chronic disease management such as Diabetes, Asthma and CKD
  • Hypertension management
  • Travel vaccinations.
  • Working alongside the team to deliver national campaigns and meet targets such as immunisation programs.
  • Assist with minor surgery.
  • Prescribed injections
  • Assess, diagnose, and prescribe appropriately.
  • Infection lead
  • Practice audits.
  • Practice policies and procedures.
  • Team leader for small healthcare team

About the candidate

Following skills and qualifications

  • Relevant nursing degree
  • At least 2 years post qualification experience in general practice desirable
  • Independent prescriber
  • Current NMC registration and active PIN
  • Familiar with Emis
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care
  • compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and NHS.
  • Leadership skill desirable but full training can be given.

Dispensary Vacancy - July 2023 

We are recruiting for a dispenser to join our team.

The ideal person should have pharmacy experience and trained to NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services. You should be passionate about pharmacy and delivering exceptional patient care.

You will work within a team of 5 and offer support to other teams within the practice. The role will include part time hours covering various shifts Monday to Friday, Holiday and sickness cover required so flexibility is essential.

General Practitioner Partner, Church View, Broadway, Somerset - April 23

Job overview

Church View Medical Centre is looking to appoint a forward-thinking and motivated GP partner or Salaried GP with view to partnership to join our high-earning, friendly, rural, dispensing practice with a 3000-list size and increasing.

Ideally, we are looking to offer six sessions per week, but this is flexible and we are open to discussion around this.

The successful candidate would manage and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

Church View is perfectly situated for those who are looking to work and/or live in a picturesque, rural village but also ideal for those who are looking for a balance between town and country life.

The practice is located in Broadway, Somerset; just half an hour’s drive to the Dorset coast, a stone’s throw away from the Blackdown Hills and only 20 minutes to the County Town, Taunton. Here you’ll find excellent schools and fast links to major cities such as London and Bristol.

Job summary

The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patient medical reports and examinations on behalf of the practice, referral letters NHS/private, paperwork and correspondence.

You’ll be working alongside our existing team comprising two GP Partners, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two practice nurses, two health care assistants, a dispensing team including a Pharmacy Technician, primary care practitioners (ECPs and PAs), MSK practitioners, PCN Pharmacy team, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Link Worker, Health Coach, Cancer Care Coordinator, and an admin team.

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
